S<strong>up</strong>er<strong>in</strong>tendent’s Recommendation:Item NumberThat the School Board of Sem<strong>in</strong>ole <strong>County</strong> accept the bid of alternate number 1 <strong>in</strong> the amount of$550,915 submitted by Collis Roof<strong>in</strong>g Company and authorizes the Facilities Plann<strong>in</strong>g Department toenter <strong>in</strong>to contract for Lake Brantley High School Build<strong>in</strong>gs 5, 4, & Partial 3 roof replacement project.2. <strong>Back</strong>ground/Analysis:Bids for the Lake Brantley High School Build<strong>in</strong>gs 5, 4, & Partial 3 roof replacement project werepublically opened on May 5, 2011. Bids were accepted from two pre-qualified bidders. The bidsvaried from $553,848 to $644,500. The Facilities Plann<strong>in</strong>g staff and the roof consultant Rogers & SarkConsult<strong>in</strong>g Inc., have reviewed the bids and recommend that the board enter <strong>in</strong>to contract with CollisRoof<strong>in</strong>g the low bidder for Alternate number 1 <strong>in</strong> the amount of $550,915. The project team willcont<strong>in</strong>ue to obta<strong>in</strong> additional cost sav<strong>in</strong>gs through value eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g analysis and Direct Purchasematerial tax sav<strong>in</strong>gs that will be reflected <strong>in</strong> future change orders to further reduce costs.In order to expedite construction and reduce impact on the school’s curriculum, the work is required tobe performed prior to the start of school.The project scope <strong>in</strong>cludes: Replacement of the GAF s<strong>in</strong>gle ply roof system with a new s<strong>in</strong>gle plymembrane, <strong>in</strong>sulation, flash<strong>in</strong>g, cop<strong>in</strong>g, and address the HVAC, fume hood exhaust equipment locatedon the roof.3.
