Superintendent’s Recommendation:Item NumberThat the School Board of Seminole County accept the bid of alternate number 1 in the amount of$550,915 submitted by Collis Roofing Company and authorizes the Facilities Planning Department toenter into contract for Lake Brantley High School Buildings 5, 4, & Partial 3 roof replacement project.2. Background/Analysis:Bids for the Lake Brantley High School Buildings 5, 4, & Partial 3 roof replacement project werepublically opened on May 5, 2011. Bids were accepted from two pre-qualified bidders. The bidsvaried from $553,848 to $644,500. The Facilities Planning staff and the roof consultant Rogers & SarkConsulting Inc., have reviewed the bids and recommend that the board enter into contract with CollisRoofing the low bidder for Alternate number 1 in the amount of $550,915. The project team willcontinue to obtain additional cost savings through value engineering analysis and Direct Purchasematerial tax savings that will be reflected in future change orders to further reduce costs.In order to expedite construction and reduce impact on the school’s curriculum, the work is required tobe performed prior to the start of school.The project scope includes: Replacement of the GAF single ply roof system with a new single plymembrane, insulation, flashing, coping, and address the HVAC, fume hood exhaust equipment locatedon the roof.3.
