range range (of addresses or registers)<br />

rdev A 1-digit to 8-digit hexadecimal number that represents a<br />

real device number. This is the hardware configured<br />

physical device number.<br />

rdev-rdev A range of real device numbers. The second device number<br />

must be greater than or equal to the first. For example,<br />

02A0-02A2 refers to real device numbers 02A0, 02A1, <strong>and</strong><br />

02A2.<br />

recfm record format<br />

rid resource identifier<br />

routine CMS or GCS routine<br />

rr record number<br />

rstor real storage address<br />

segname segment name<br />

sense sense bytes<br />

spoolid The spool file identification number that <strong>CP</strong> assigns to each<br />

spool file for a user ID. The ID number ranges from one to<br />

four decimal digits.<br />

svc supervisor call number<br />

sysname system name<br />

type One of the following device types:<br />

CONS Console<br />

CTCA Channel-to-channel adapter<br />

CTLR communications controller<br />

GRAF Display device<br />

KBD 3215 (non-console)<br />

LINE 270X device<br />

MSC Mass storage controller<br />

PRT Printer<br />

PUN Card punch<br />

RDR Card reader<br />

TAPE Tape drive<br />

userid The 1-character to 8-character name that identifies the user<br />

to z/<strong>VM</strong>. This is essentially the name by which the system<br />

knows you.<br />

vdev A 1-digit to 4-digit hexadecimal number that represents a<br />

virtual device number.<br />

vdev-vdev A range of virtual device numbers. The second device<br />

number must be greater than or equal to the first. For<br />

example, 01D0-01D2 refers to virtual device numbers 01D0,<br />

01D1, <strong>and</strong> 01D2.
