if the granter is unable to warrant the lands, he will give an exchange<br />

3. Charter by William Bruce, granting to Ivo of Kirkpatiick that land in the fee<br />

of Penrc^ax wliich is called Thorbrec and Willambi, and the town of<br />

Blacwde, for his homage and service : To be held to the grantee and his<br />

heirs of the granter and his heirs in fee and heritage, reserving the<br />

patronage of the church. Granting also the two carucates of land in the<br />

territory of Pcnrcsax, with tofts and crofts, which Rielsard son of Aldus,<br />

Robert son of Cecilia, Adam of WiUarabi, Adam sou of the priest, Adam<br />

son of Astin, Jurdan, Stephen, and Richard son of Siric, held in Penrcsax,<br />

performing to the granter the service of the eighth part of a knight's fee.<br />

With clau.'-c of warrandice and a promise of exchanging, if necessary,<br />

lands of equal value in Annandrdc or elsewhere. Witnesses, William<br />
