6.10 Brake system
6.10.1 Operating brake
131
6 Operation
The brake system of every euro-Maus4 consists of dry drum brakes (compressed air
brake) on the front axle.
For safety reasons, it consists of two independent braking circuits:
The operating brake activated by the brake pedal on the cabin floor - and - the parking
brake which is activated by the toggle switch (17).
All machines in the 32 km/h version (optional) are additionally equipped with a
hydraulically actuated operating brake (drum brake) on the rear axle, however, this
brake is controlled pneumatically.
Danger! Hazard to life in case of defective brakes. Before each drive, check that the
brakes function! The braking systems must regularly be thoroughly checked! Setting and
repair work on the brakes may only be performed by trained specialist personnel.
The operating brake is activated using the left pedal (4) on the cab floor. It takes effect
on the front wheels (also on the rear wheels with the 32km/h version) and only works
if there is enough pressure in the compressed air system. If the service brake should
not be sufficiently functional (for instance too low reservoir pressure), then the following
warning icon is displayed on the color terminal .
08000004
Danger! When a warning icon is displayed on the color terminal referring to problems
with the braking system, there is the greatest hazard to life for the driver and
bystanders as well as other participants in traffic. Operation of euro-Maus4 must cease
immediately in such cases. The machine must be parked in such a manner that nobody
is endangered or impaired. The machine must be secured against rolling away by
engaging the parking brake. It may only be moved again after the cause for the brake
fault has been repaired by specialist personnel and the machine has been released for
operation by corresponding specialist personnel.
