7 Maintenance and Care<br />

The distance between two wear flanges amounts to approx. 0.5 mm for a new machine.<br />

When this distance becomes too great, more grass, weeds and beet leaves, etc. get<br />

caught at the transition to the next conveyor.<br />

<strong>ROPA</strong> recommends replacing the wear flanges when the distance amounts to 2-3 mm.<br />

This exchange is easy to perform. The settings of the taper roller bearings are left totally<br />

untouched since they are behind the wear flange.<br />

The fundamental procedure corresponds to that for removal of pinch rollers with the<br />

difference that the fine thread bolt (16) must be slackened first (do not completely<br />

unscrew it).<br />

In order to exchange the wear flange, (28), only the fastening bolts 29)<br />

of the wear flange need be replaced. If the two grub screws (30) are screwed into the<br />

thread, the wear flange is forced off.<br />

Two versions of wear flange are required:<br />

– Wear flange <strong>ROPA</strong> Item No. 102257 for rollers rotating counter-clockwise (marked):<br />

The direction-of-rotation information is always stated viewing the end face of the wear<br />

flange.<br />
