6.13 Loading operation
6.13.1 General information regarding loading
Familiarize yourself with the local ground and landscape before starting to work.
Even before loading, check whether the pile conforms to the requirements of the pile
design plan in the appendix. Especially make sure that the pile is not wider than 10.2 m
in any place. If this should be the case, make sure that the pile is as evenly as possible
brought to a maximum width of 10m.
Ideal pile width
Instruct the people present before starting to work about the most important safety
regulations, especially about the hazard zones and about the required safety distances.
Use the form in the appendix, have the participants confirm by signature that they have
received these instructions (make a copy before completing the form!).
Make it absolutely clear to all people present that you are obliged to immediately stop
the machine and immediately cease work if a person enters the hazard zones or does
not exit them upon request.
Tip: You can save time during fold-in and fold-out of the machine if you select "Loading
direction to the right". Neither "Loading direction to the right" nor "Loading direction to
the left" has any effect on the quality of work, beet flow or stability of the machine.
ROPA machines enable you to load either to the right or to the left with the same work
speed and quality.
Position the machine in hilly terrain in a way that you can load "uphill". If at all possible,
avoid loading at an excessively steep angle.
Drive to a distance of about 1 meter from the beet pile.
