7 Maintenance and Care
Attention! Risk of injury! Immobilize euro-Maus4 each time and shut off the engine
before performing an oil change on the individual planetary gear units. The machine must
be secured against inadvertent starting of the engine. All maintenance and repair work
may only be performed by trained specialist personnel.
Danger from hot oil escaping under pressure! The oil of the planetary gear units
may become very hot under certain circumstances and – due to heating up – may be
pressurized. When performing an oil change on the planetary gear units, always wear
gloves and suitable protective clothing. Always first unscrew the oil filler plug very slowly
and with due care, so that the pressure which may have built up in the planetary gear
units can be relieved safely.
– Change the oil only with the gear units at operating temperature. Park the machine
on level ground. The oil level inspection plug ("Oil Level") (1) is horizontal (see
illustration).
– Place a catch pan of sufficient size underneath.
– Open the oil drain plug (2) and the oil level inspection plug and let the old oil drain
off.
1
– Screw in the oil drain plug again.
– Fill the planetary gear unit with the supplied ROPA planetary oil filler so that the oil
level reaches the lower edge of the oil level inspection opening.
– Screw the oil level inspection plug back in again.
– Wait around 15 minutes and recheck the oil level. If needed, add a little oil.
Tightening torque for the 3 plugs: 50 Nm
Note! Use the ROPA planetary oil filler to add the oil (ROPA special tool Item No.
018143). You can exactly and easily add the corresponding oil quantity using this special
tool.
