Chapter 5
Operating Components
5.2.2 Adjusting the driver's seat
Safety information:
– In order to avoid back injury, the weight setting should be set to the individual weight
of the driver each time before placing the vehicle into operation and each time there
is a new driver.
– In order to avoid the risk of injury, do not store any items in the swivel range of the
driver's seat.
– In order to avoid the risk of accident, check, before placing the vehicle into
operation, that all setting controls have correctly locked in position.
– The setting facilities on the driver's seat may not be operated during operation.
– When the backrest upholstery has been removed, the backrest frame must be
supported, e.g. held in place, before the backrest adjuster is operated. If you fail to
do so, there is an increased risk that the backrest frame may jerk forward and cause
injury.
– If you make any changes to the standard seat (e.g. not using original retrofitting
and spare parts made by Grammer), it may no longer meet the safety standards
to which it is tested. Functions of the driver's seat which endanger your safety may
be impaired. This is why any structural modification of the driver's seat must be
released by the Grammer company.
– Screw connections should be regularly checked to ensure that they are still tight.
Wobbling of the seat may indicate loose screw connections or other defects.
If the seat does not function correctly (e.g. the seat suspension), contact a specialist
workshop immediately to arrange for repairs to be carried out.
– The driver's seat may be fitted, serviced and repaired only by specialist staff.
If you fail to do this, there is a risk to your health and safety and an increased risk of
accident.
Weight adjustment
The seat should be adjusted for the drivers weight by briefly
pulling the actuator lever of the automatic weight and height
adjuster (arrow) with the vehicle at a standstill and the driver
sitting on the seat.
The driver must sit absolutely still during adjustment.
To prevent health damage, the setting for the driver's weight
must be checked and adjusted as necessary before the
vehicle is driven.
