7 Maintenance and Care
Chapter 7
Maintenance and Care
The first oil change is required after 50 operating hours. Thereafter, the oil must be
changed annually. With each oil change, the intake filter in the pump distributor gear and
the pressure filter cartridge must be replaced.
7.2.1 Oil and filter change
– Before performing the oil change, clean the area around the intake and pressure
filters over a large area.
– Change the oil only with the gear units at operating temperature.
– Place a catching vessel resistant to oil and of sufficient size underneath.
– Open the closure cap of the drain valve (3) of the pump distributor gear.
– Screw the oil drain hose supplied onto the drain valve of the pump distributor gear.
(the valve opens and the gear oil drains off).
– Unscrew the cap nut of the intake line (4) from the filter flange (5) on the inside of
the gear (this requires a box wrench, width across flats 36 mm).
– Undo the hexagon screw fitting (you will need a box wrench, width across flats
46 mm) on the filter flange (5) (undo the fitting only, on no account should you fully
unscrew the fitting itself).
– Unscrew the 4 screws (width across flats 13 mm) on the filter flange (5) and
withdraw the filter element.
– Replace the filter element with a new one (ROPA item No: O-40320010)
(Always use a new paper seal when fitting
ROPA Item No.: O-20350003) and smear this seal with oil before
fitting).
– Firmly retighten the flange (5) and hose line.
– Unscrew the pressure filter bowl (6) using a wrench, width across flats 24 mm, from
the gear valve manifold (8) and replace the filter element with a new one (ROPA
Item No.: 270442).
