7 Maintenance and Care Chapter 7 Maintenance and Care 7.3.1.2 Checking the intake strainers The intake strainers inside of the hydraulic fluid tank must be checked for soiling every two years before filling up the fresh hydraulic fluid by means of a visual inspection. If the intake strainers are soiled, clean them. – For this purpose, detach the metal cover (6) of the hydraulic fluid tank. Flush the intake strainers from inside to outside using sufficient cleaning agent . – Reinsert the intake strainers. Intake strainer on the inside of the hydraulic fluid tank – Place the gasket and the metal cover (6) on them. – Coat the bolts for fastening the metal cover (6) with sealing compound (<strong>ROPA</strong> Item No. 017026) before inserting them and tighten the bolts. 6 280 5 (5) Intake return filter (6) Metal cover
7.3.1.3 Changing the hydraulic fluid 281 7 Maintenance and Care Before filling with fresh hydraulic fluid, replace both filters of the hydraulic system. These filters are disposable products. They may not be cleaned. Cleaning destroys the filters and the hydraulic system may sustain severe damage. An intake return filter (5) is located on the hydraulic fluid tank. When replacing the filter element – as during all work on the hydraulic system – observe absolute cleanliness. Ensure that the O-ring seals in the filter housing are neither damaged nor soiled. Before opening the filter housing, ensure that the hydraulic system is fully depressurized and that the fluid filling cover is open. Filter cover O-ring (164.47 x 5.33 NBR 70 Sh) included in Item No. 270483 Separating plate with protection strainer Item No. 270663 Filter element <strong>ROPA</strong> Item No. 270483 Dirt catch basket (Secured with bayonet catch on the filter element) Replacement of the filter element is required after the first 50 operating hours, then annually. For replacing the filter element in the intake return filter, proceed as follows: – Remove the four cover fastening bolts and keep these in a safe place. – Take off the cover of the intake return filter. – Using a slight rotating movement, pull the filter separating plate including the attached filter element out. – Dismantle the pulled-out unit into its individual components: separating plate, filter element and dirt catch basket. – Clean the housing, cover, separating plate and dirt catch basket. A protection strainer made of metal is integrated in the separating plate. Inspect the inside of this protection strainer for metal swarf and other foreign bodies. This Chapter 7 Maintenance and Care
