7 Maintenance and Care
The diesel fuel is inducted by the electrical pump on the standard prefilter (1) (with
integrated water separator and preheater) and pumped to the intermediate tank (4) via
the engine. The fuel supply pump inducts the diesel fuel from the intermediate tank (4)
and pumps it through the fine fuel filter to the injection elements.

The filter cartridges must be cleaned respectively exchanged as per maintenance
schedule.
The fine fuel filter on the engine must be immediately exchanged, independent of
operating hours, when symbol is displayed on the color terminal.
On the other hand, if the following symbol is displayed on the color terminal, the
separation filter (optional) must be cleaned, respectively, the filter cartridge of the
standard prefilter must be replaced.
Only use original fuel filters approved by Mercedes-Benz or ROPA.
