6 Operation
6.15.1 Modifications or additions to the engine operating manual from Mercedes-
Benz
The following items listed below must generally be considered for the engines from
Mercedes-Benz that are installed in ROPA machines:
– Models in which OM 926 LA euroMOT 3a (models with 220kW at 2200 rpm) are
installed. This means that only a part of the operating manual from Mercedes-Benz
applies, namely those referring to these engine models as well as those parts
generally applying to all engine models.
– All engines that are not fitted with a flame starter system, but are equipped with a
constant throttle brake. Control is effected by the ADM3 electronic control unit via
the CAN-Bus. This control unit is located in the central electrical system cabinet!
The exhaust after-treatment system of euro-Maus4 is controlled by the SCR frame
module. This is located somewhat in the middle/left side of the euro-Maus4 frame
over the rear side of transmission.
The "warning lamp electronics" and "stop lights" mentioned in the operating manual
from Mercedes-Benz are replaced by warning indicators on the color terminal of
ROPA machines. But the meaning for these indications is identical to the light/lamps
described in the operating manual from Mercedes-Benz.
As soon as the STOP indication is displayed on the color terminal, the engine must
be IMMEDIATELY shut off because there is a serious engine fault that may lead to
an engine breakdown operation is continued.
The "charging current" indicator lamp is also replaced by a warning indicator on the
color terminal of ROPA machines.
– An emergency switch for the full engine power (override switch) is listed in the
Mercedes Benz manual. This switch is only installed in machines fitted with engines
certified in accordance with EPA/Tier 4i.
2
– The diagnosis socket (X-340 (2)) for engine electronics is located at the rear side of
the central electronics cabinet.
– The START / STOP button on the engine is render inoperable by securing the hatch
on the engine compartment.
– Instead of the original oil drain plug, the engine has a special oil drain valve. This is
intended to facilitate changing of the engine oil.
