to Kathy, please? —Speaking. What is it about? —I’m Dr. Voisin, I’m
calling to tell you I’m terribly sorry about what I said last Friday. I
suppose you caught me in a bad mood, but really, I have no excuse. —Oh
no, you shouldn’t regret it. You know, I have given it some thoughts, I
guess I needed this lesson; it was certainly not a good idea to write on
you under your guidance, although I do like your poetry very much...
Anyway, it’s very nice of you to call on a Sunday. —I tried yesterday,
but I didn’t find you at home. —I needed the whole day off. Too much
pressure lately, I spent the afternoon on the beach. —Listen, Kathy, I
don’t know how to put it to you, but I’d like to see you very soon, I’d
like to chat with you, in a non-academic setting, if it’s at all possible...
—Well... Do you mean : right now? —Why not? It’s quite trivial, you’re
going to laugh. I’m going to the birthday party of my son’s girlfriend
in Randwick. It would be a pleasure... —I don’t know what to say, are
you sure I should? I live in the Ashfield area, it’s a long way. And... I
hadn’t planned to go out today at all. I’ve lent my car to my sister this
weekend... —If it’s your only problem, let me pick you up in an hour or
so. But don’t feel obliged, you would do a disservice to both of us! —I
don’t feel obliged. It’s O.K., I’ll wait for you, 81, Holborow St., Croydon,
