Chapter 8 – Network Service <strong>Command</strong>s<br />

If the test command is used during an ongoing GPRS transfer, traffic will be inter<strong>ru</strong>pted <strong>for</strong> up to<br />

one minute.<br />

The <strong>AT</strong>+COPS read command returns the current and the currently selected operator. If<br />

no operator is selected, and are omitted.<br />

The <strong>AT</strong>+COPS write command <strong>for</strong>ces an attempt to select and register to the GSM network<br />

operator (see note below). If the selected operator is not available, no other operator will be<br />

selected (except =4). The selected operator name will apply to further read<br />

commands, too.<br />

1 Manual operator selection<br />

Write command requires in numeric <strong>for</strong>mat; i.e., shall be 2.<br />

Read command returns the current and the currently selected . If no operator is<br />

selected, and are omitted.<br />

2 Manually deregister from network and remain unregistered until =0 or 1 or 4 is selected.<br />

3 Set only (<strong>for</strong> <strong>AT</strong>+COPS read command).<br />

4 Automatic / manual selection; if manual selection fails, automatic mode (=0) is entered<br />

( field will be present).<br />

0 Long alphanumeric <strong>for</strong>mat of . Can be up to 16 characters long. Default.<br />

2 Numeric <strong>for</strong>mat of . This is the GSM Location Area Identification (LAI) number, which<br />

consists of the 3-digit Mobile Country Code (MCC) plus the 2- or 3-digit Mobile Network Code<br />

(MNC).<br />
