A simultaneous takeoff and landing operationshall only be conducted in VFR conditions.2. Instruct the landing aircraft to hold short ofthe intersecting runway being used by the aircrafttaking off. In the case of simultaneous landings andno operational benefit is lost, restrict the aircraft ofthe lesser weight category (if known). LAHSOclearances shall only be issued to aircraft that arelisted in the current LAHSO directive, whoseAvailable Landing Distance (ALD) does not exceedthe landing distance requirement for the runwaycondition.PHRASEOLOGY−HOLD SHORT OF RUNWAY (runway number), (traffic,type aircraft or other information).NOTE−Pilots who prefer to use the full length of the runway or arunway different from that specified are expected to adviseATC prior to landing.3. Issue traffic information to both aircraftinvolved and obtain an acknowledgment from each.Request a read back of hold short instructions whenthey are not received from the pilot of the restrictedaircraft.EXAMPLE−1. “Runway one eight cleared to land, hold short ofrunway one four left, traffic, (type aircraft) landing runwayone four left.”(When pilot of restricted aircraft responds <strong>with</strong> onlyacknowledgment):b. “USA/USAF/USN NOT APPLICABLE.” Anaircraft may be authorized to takeoff from onerunway while another aircraft lands simultaneouslyon an intersecting runway or an aircraft lands on onerunway while another aircraft lands simultaneouslyon an intersecting runway, or an aircraft lands to holdshort of an intersecting taxiway or some otherpredetermined point such as an approach/departureflight path using procedures specified in the currentLAHSO directive. The procedure shall be approvedby the air traffic manager and be in accordance <strong>with</strong>a facility directive. The following conditions apply:“Runway one four left cleared to land, traffic, (typeaircraft) landing runway one eight will hold short of theintersection.”“Read back hold short instructions.”2. “Runway three six cleared to land, hold short of runwaythree three, traffic, (type aircraft) departing runway threethree.”“<strong>Traffic</strong>, (type aircraft) landing runway three six will holdshort of the intersection, runway three three cleared fortakeoff.”3−10−4Arrival Procedures and Separation
