INFORMATION REQUIREMENTSWhen information is received that an aircraft plans todump fuel, determine the route and altitude it will flyand the weather conditions in which the operationwill be conducted.9−5−2. ROUTINGExcept when it is dumping fuel for emergencyreasons, an aircraft in either VFR or IFR conditionsmay be requested to fly a different route.9−5−3. ALTITUDE ASSIGNMENTIf an aircraft is dumping fuel in IFR conditions, assignan altitude at least 2,000 feet above the highestobstacle <strong>with</strong>in 5 miles of the route or pattern beingflown.9−5−4. SEPARATION MINIMASeparate known aircraft from the aircraft dumpingfuel as follows:a. IFR aircraft by one of the following:1. 1,000 feet (2,000 feet above FL 290) above it.2. 2,000 feet below it.3. 5 miles radar.4. 5 miles laterally.b. VFR radar-identified aircraft by 5 miles and inaccordance <strong>with</strong> para 5−6−1, Application.9−5−5. INFORMATION DISSEMINATIONa. If you are in contact <strong>with</strong> an aircraft when itstarts dumping fuel, inform other controllers andfacilities which might be concerned. Facilitiesconcerned shall broadcast an advisory on appropriateradio frequencies at 3−minute intervals until thedumping stops.PHRASEOLOGY−ATTENTION ALL AIRCRAFT.FUEL DUMPING IN PROGRESS OVER (location) AT(altitude) BY (type aircraft) (flight direction).b.
