An aircraft utilizing RNAV and an aircraftutilizing VOR have reported passing the sameposition and the RNAV aircraft is at least 4 milesbeyond the reported position when operating along aroute that is 8 miles or less in width; 9 miles beyondthe point when operating along an expanded route;except that 15 miles shall be applied if operatingalong that portion of any route segment defined by anavigation station requiring extended usable distancelimitation beyond 130 miles; or 3 minutes apartwhichever is greater.6−4−4. SEPARATION BY PILOTSWhen pilots of aircraft on the same course in directradio communication <strong>with</strong> each other concur, youmay authorize the following aircraft to maintainlongitudinal separation of 10 minutes; or 20 milesbetween DME equipped aircraft; RNAV equippedaircraft using LTD; and between DME and LTDaircraft provided the DME aircraft is either10,000 feet or below or outside of 10 miles from theDME NAVAID.PHRASEOLOGY−MAINTAIN AT LEAST ONE ZERO MINUTES/TWOZERO MILES SEPARATION FROM (ident).6−4−5.
