<strong>7110.65P</strong> 2/19/045. RESPONSIBILITIESa. The specialist being relieved shall be responsiblefor ensuring that any pertinent status informationof which he/she is aware is relayed to the relievingspecialist and is either:1. Accurately displayed in the Status InformationArea/s for which he/she has responsibility, or2. Relayed to the position having responsibilityfor accurately displaying the status information.b. The relieving specialist shall be responsible forensuring that, prior to accepting responsibility for theposition, any unresolved questions pertaining to theoperation of the position are resolved.c. The relieving specialist and the specialist beingrelieved shall share equal responsibility for thecompleteness and accuracy of the position reliefbriefing.d. The specialists engaged in a position relief shallconduct the relief process at the position beingrelieved unless other procedures have been establishedand authorized by the facility air trafficmanager.NOTE−The “sharing” of this responsibility means that thespecialist being relieved is obligated to provide a complete,accurate briefing and the relieving specialist is obligatedto ensure that a briefing takes place and is to his/her totalsatisfaction.6. STEP−BY−STEP PROCESSa. PREVIEW THE POSITIONRelieving SpecialistSpecialist Being Relieved1. Follow checklist and review the Status InformationArea(s).NOTE−This sub-step may be replaced by an authorized pre−position briefing provided an equivalent review of checklist items isaccomplished.2. Observe position equipment, operational situation, andthe work environment.3. Listen to voice communications and observe otheroperational actions.4. Observe current and pending aircraft and vehiculartraffic and correlate <strong>with</strong> flight and other movementinformation.5. Indicate to the specialist being relieved that the positionhas been previewed and that the verbal briefing may begin.NOTE−Substeps 6a2, 3, and 4 may be conducted concurrently or in any order.D−2Standard Operating Practice (SOP) for the Transfer of Position Responsibility
