WEATHER AND CHAFF SERVICESa. Issue pertinent information on observed/reportedweather or chaff areas. Provide radarnavigational guidance and/or approve deviationsaround weather or chaff areas when requested by thepilot. Do not use the word “turbulence” in describingradar-derived weather.1. Issue weather and chaff information bydefining the area of coverage in terms of azimuth (byreferring to the 12−hour clock) and distance from theaircraft or by indicating the general width of the areaand the area of coverage in terms of fixes or distanceand direction from fixes.2. Issue the level of echo intensity when thatinformation is available.3. When equipment limitations exist, controllersshall, at a minimum, ensure that the highestavailable level of echo intensity <strong>with</strong>in their area ofjurisdiction is displayed.2−6−2Weather Information
