BACKGROUND: Recent improvements in en route automation have provided the ability to display a fourth line of datain the en route data block. These <strong>changes</strong> have been developed to enhance the procedural preference of automation tononautomation procedures on a national level. The free text feature may be used by individual sector teams as a scratch padarea, but not to forward this individualized notation in the data block to any receiving controller. Limiting passage of data<strong>with</strong>in the en route data block to the automated coordination of control information using standard characters will lend tonational continuity and minimize chances for misinterpretation.3. CHANGE:OLDAddAddAddAddAddAddAddAddNEW5−4−11. EN ROUTE FOURTH LINE DATA BLOCKUSAGEa. The en route fourth line data block shall be usedto forward only the specified control informationlisted below. Any additional control information shallbe forwarded via other communication methods.
