Route of flight including a STAR/RNAVSTAR/FMSP and STAR/RNAV STAR/FMSP transition,if appropriate. Assign a STAR/RNAV STAR/FMSP and STAR/RNAV STAR/FMSP transition toany aircraft in lieu of other routes; e.g., airways orpreferential arrival routes when the routings are thesame. The clearance shall include the name andtransition, if necessary, of the STAR/RNAVSTAR/FMSP to be flown.TERMINAL: When the STAR/RNAV STAR/FMSPtransition is designed to provide course guidance tomultiple runways, the facility shall state intendedrunway number on initial contact, or as soon aspractical. If the runway assignment, or anysubsequent runway change, is not issued prior to10 NM from the runway transition waypoint, radarvectors to final shall be provided.PHRASEOLOGY−(STAR/RNAV STAR/FMSP name and number) ARRIVAL.(STAR/RNAV STAR/FMSP name and number) ARRIVAL,(transition name) TRANSITION.CHANGE/AMEND TRANSITION TO (runway number).CHANGE/AMEND TRANSITION TO (runway number)TURN LEFT/RIGHT or HEADING (heading) FORVECTOR TO FINAL APPROACH COURSE.EXAMPLE−“Rosewood One arrival.”“Rosewood One arrival, Delta transition.”“Change transition to Runway 09 right.”“Amend transition to Runway 22 left, turn right heading180 for vector to final approach course.”NOTE−If a civil pilot does not wish to use a STAR or FMSP issuedin an ATC clearance or any other STAR or FMSP publishedfor that location, the pilot is expected to advise ATC.c. Coordinate <strong>with</strong> the receiving facility for alower altitude and issue a clearance to the aircraft asappropriate.b. Initiate this action at a distance sufficient fromdestination to allow for normal descent and speedreduction.4−7−3.
