However, when using WinPE,an image restore of the system drive is possible. See Tivoli Storage Manager RecoveryTechniques Using Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) for moreinformation. You cannot restore an image backup to the volume from which the client iscurrently running. Consider installing the Tivoli Storage Manager client on thesystem drive.Image backup does not guarantee consistency of system objects, such as the ActiveDirectory. System objects can be spread out across multiple volumes, and shouldbe backed up using the corresponding BACKUP commands. An image backup provides the following benefits:v Backs up file systems containing a large number of files faster than a full filesystem incremental backup.v Improves the speed with which Tivoli Storage Manager restores file systemscontaining many small files.v Conserves resources on the server during backups since only one entry isrequired for the image.v Provides a point-in-time picture of your logical volume, which might be useful ifyour enterprise needs to recall that information.v Restores a corrupt file system or raw logical volume. Data is restored to thesame state it was when the last logical volume backup was performed.130 IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Windows Backup-Archive Clients: Installation and User's Guide
