If you expire a file ordirectory that still exists on your workstation, the file or directory is backed upagain during the next incremental backup unless you exclude the object frombackup processing.If you expire a directory that contains active files, those files will not appear in asubsequent query from the GUI. However, these files are displayed on thecomm<strong>and</strong> line, if you specify the proper query with a wildcard character for thedirectory.Note: Because the expire comm<strong>and</strong> changes the server picture of the client filesystem without actually changing the client file system, the expire comm<strong>and</strong> is notallowed on files located on a file system monitored by the Tivoli Storage Managerjournal service.Supported ClientsThis comm<strong>and</strong> is valid for all clients.Syntax►►EXPireoptionsfilespec►◄ParametersfilespecSpecifies a path <strong>and</strong> a file name that you want to expire. You can enter onlyone file specification on this comm<strong>and</strong>. However, you can use wildcards toselect a group of files or all the files in a directory.
