2. From the Utilities menu, select Setup Wizard. This launches the Tivoli StorageManager Client Configuration Wizard.3. On the first panel of the Tivoli Storage Manager Client Configuration Wizard,make sure Help me configure the TSM Backup Archive Client is selected.4. Follow the prompts to finish creating your options file. Click the Help button ifyou need assistance completing the wizard.You can also modify your options file manually. The install process creates asample client options file called dsm.smp. If you accepted the default installationpath, this file is in the Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\config directory. The dsm.smpfile is a generic configuration file that contains communication parameters that arenormally used in a Windows environment. You can use this file as a templatewhen customizing your own options file. First, copy the dsm.smp file to yourProgram Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient directory <strong>and</strong> rename it dsm.opt. Open it inNotepad or your favorite plain text editor <strong>and</strong> use the following guidelines tocustomize it for your environment.One of the most important purposes of the options file is to specify thecommunication protocol necessary to establish communications between yourbackup client <strong>and</strong> the backup server. Use the commmethod option to specify acommunication protocol. For example, to use the TCP/IP communication protocol,enter:COMMMethod TCPIPYou must also specify the TCP/IP server address of the backup server you connectto using the tcpserveraddress option. For example, you can enter the following:TCPServeraddress dsmchost.endicott.ibm.comYou can also specify what you want to call your workstation by using thenodename option. When you register with the backup server during setup, this isthe name the server uses for your workstation. If you do not specify a node name,the server identifies your workstation by its host name. You can type hostname ata comm<strong>and</strong> prompt to see the host name of your workstation.You can also use the options file to specify authorization, backup <strong>and</strong> archiveprocessing, <strong>and</strong> scheduling options. The options specified in your options file arein effect every time you start Tivoli Storage Manager from either the GUI or thecomm<strong>and</strong> line. However, you can override options temporarily by using thecomm<strong>and</strong> line.Your backup server can override your options by using server defined <strong>and</strong>enforced client option sets.Once you have created an options file, you can use one of the following methodsto edit your options file from the GUI. Method 2 includes basic options only, whileMethod 1 allows more extensive tailoring (has a lot more options available).v Method 1:1. Open the Edit menu <strong>and</strong> select Preferences.2. Make any necessary changes, then click OK to save those changes.v Method 2:1. Open the Utilities menu <strong>and</strong> select Setup Wizard.2. Select the Help me configure the TSM Backup Archive Client checkbox.3. Click the Next button.4.
