If you selected as the provider in 3 on page 62, restart the system if prompted.To set preferences for open file support, use the Include-Exclude tab on the TivoliStorage Manager Preferences editor. You can set these options for all volumes orfor individual volumes using the include.fs option: snapshotproviderfs,presnapshotcmd, postsnapshotcmd. Also, if you selected the LVSA as yoursnapshot provider, the following additional options can be set:snapshotcachelocation, snapshotcachesize, snapshotfsidleretries, snapshotfsidlewait.LVSA is not signed, therefore the LVSA driver is included with the Tivoli StorageManager Client package, but it is not installed by default. If your organizationdoes not permit using unsigned drivers, you can use VSS.Related concepts“Client options reference” on page 300“Image backup” on page 130Configuring Open File SupportThe Open File Support (OFS) feature can be selected at installation time orinstalled later using the Tivoli Storage Manager client GUI setup wizard.By default, the OFS feature is not installed.The install program or the setup wizard performs all the steps necessary to install,set up, <strong>and</strong> enable the OFS feature so that the next backup or archive operationattempts to take advantage of the open file support. You can also use the installprogram or setup wizard to install or remove the OFS feature. If the LVSA ischosen as the snapshot provider, the installation or removal of this feature mightrequire a workstation reboot.If the client is unable to create a snapshot; for example, if the snapshotfsidleretriesnumber is not met or the snapshotcachelocation option is not valid, failover to anon-OFS backup occurs on the volumes where this problem exists. If the LVSA isyour snapshot provider, information <strong>and</strong> error messages might also be logged tothe Windows event log.If the Tivoli Storage Manager Open File Support feature is configured, TivoliStorage Manager performs a snapshot-based file-level operation, during which thereal volume is available to other system applications. A consistent image of thevolume is maintained during the operation.To configure OFS, perform the following steps:1. Select Utilities → Setup Wizard from the Tivoli Storage Manager GUI mainwindow. The Client Configuration Wizard panel appears.2. Select Help me configure Online Image Support <strong>and</strong> click the Next button.The TSM Online Image Support Wizard panel appears.3. Select the Snapshot Provider you want to use <strong>and</strong> then click the Next button.The providers you can select from are VSS or LVSA. To disable online imagesupport, select None.a. If you select None <strong>and</strong> the LVSA is installed, <strong>and</strong> online image is not beingused for OFS, the Uninstall the Logical Volume Snapshot Agent (LVSA)checkbox is enabled.
