waitforevent.exeProgram that detects the completion of the Tivoli Storage Manager clientinstallation.tsmasr.optA copy of the Tivoli Storage Manager client options file that matches theTivoli Storage Manager environment in effect during the ASR backup.Q: After performing the ASR restore, the user account from which the backupwas performed has missing shortcuts in the start menu and has lost desktopcustomizations. What causes this to happen?A: The likely cause is that the user profile of this account was in use during thebackup or restore operation.Q: Why does the dsmc restore command seem to run more slowly in ASR modethan when I run it on a fully installed system? The output scrolls slowly on theconsole. How can I make restore run faster?A: In the GUI setup mode phase of ASR, the default video driver installed byWindows does not provide support for hardware acceleration. To improveperformance, you can do the following:1. Minimize the command window after you respond to the prompts for networkor local backup set restore. If you are performing local backup set restore, youmust maximize the command window to respond to prompts for additionalrestore volumes.2. Maximize the diagnostic command prompt, and move that window to covermost of the restore command window. This reduces the effort required by thevideo subsystem to draw the changing text on the restore command window.3. Use the quiet option in the tsmasr.opt options file to reduce the amount offeedback displayed on the restore console. You would edit tsmasr.opt on theASR recovery diskette prior to running ASR. The disadvantage of using thequiet option is that you will not see any restore progress information except forfinal restore statistics.Q: How do you use ASR in conjunction with systems that are running in acluster?A: Restoring clustered systems using ASR with Tivoli Storage Manager is similar tothe methods you would use in a non-ASR environment. There are two scenarios:(1) restoring a cluster node and (2) restoring an entire cluster when no nodes arerunning in the cluster.Restoring a cluster nodeThis is the most common restore scenario which you would use when anindividual node of a cluster fails. The local node must be restored but theshared disks have failed over to another node. The cluster database isbacked up by Tivoli Storage Manager as part of systemstate. The restoresystemstate clusterdb command issued during a single system ASR insuresthe cluster database is restored correctly. No additional steps are required. When the node reboots, the workstation should join the cluster and beginto work. Since the shared disks have failed over to another node, theyappear to be inaccessible to the node.Restoring an entire clusterIf there are no nodes running in the cluster, and an ASR is performed onChapter 11.
