Installing the Tivoli Storage Manager clientsThe Tivoli Storage Manager backup-archive client helps you protect information onyour workstations.You can maintain backup versions of your files that you can restore if the originalfiles are damaged or lost. You can also archive files that you do not currently need,preserve them in their current state, and retrieve them when necessary.The Tivoli Storage Manager clients work in conjunction with the Tivoli StorageManager server. Contact your Tivoli Storage Manager server administrator toobtain backup or archive access to the server, or refer to the server publications toinstall and configure a Tivoli Storage Manager server.Upgrading from earlier versionsThe following sections explain what you need to do if you are upgrading to TivoliStorage Manager Version 6.2.2 from a previous version.Upgrade path for clients and servers|||||||||||||||||||||As part of a migration plan from Tivoli Storage Manager Version 5.5 or 6.1 toTivoli Storage Manager Version 6.2, Tivoli Storage Manager clients and servers canbe upgraded at different times.
