ParametersPromptFor nonscheduled operations, you specify whether to overwrite existing files.For scheduled operations, existing files are not overwritten <strong>and</strong> no prompts aredisplayed. This is the default.AllAll existing files are overwritten, including read-only files. All locked files arereplaced when the system is rebooted. If access to a file is denied, you areprompted to skip or overwrite the file. No action is taken on the file until thereis a response to the prompt.YesExisting files are overwritten, except read-only files. For nonscheduledoperations, you specify whether to overwrite existing read-only files. Forscheduled operations, existing read-only files are not overwritten <strong>and</strong> noprompts are displayed. If access to a file is denied, the file is skipped.No Existing files are not overwritten. No prompts are displayed.Note: You can choose to replace locked files when the system is rebooted. TivoliStorage Manager cannot perform an in-place restore of active files. However, itstages restored versions of active files for replacement during the next reboot,except for files containing named streams, sparse files, <strong>and</strong> directories. You canonly restore these files if they are unlocked.ExamplesResetarchiveattributeOptions file:replace allComm<strong>and</strong> line:-replace=noThis option is valid on the initial comm<strong>and</strong> line <strong>and</strong> in interactive mode. If youuse this option in interactive mode, it affects only the comm<strong>and</strong> with which it isspecified. When that comm<strong>and</strong> completes, the value reverts to the value at thebeginning of the interactive session. This is the value from the dsm.opt file unlessoverridden by the initial comm<strong>and</strong> line or by an option forced by the server.Use the resetarchiveattribute option to specify whether Tivoli Storage Managerresets the Windows archive attribute on files that are successfully backed up to aTivoli Storage Manager server.Tivoli Storage Manager also resets the archive attribute during incremental backupsif it is determined that there is already an active object on the Tivoli StorageManager server. The resetarchiveattribute option is useful in conjunction withapplications, such as the IBM Tivoli Storage Resource Manager, as a simple way toreport on the backup status of files.The Windows archive attribute is used to indicate that a file has changed since thelast backup. After Tivoli Storage Manager resets the archive attribute, the Windowsoperating system turns the attribute back to ON after the file has been modified.Tivoli Storage Manager does not use the Windows archive attribute to determine ifa file is a c<strong>and</strong>idate for incremental backup, but only manipulates this attribute for442 IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Windows Backup-Archive Clients: <strong>Installation</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>User's</strong> <strong>Guide</strong>
