In the Windows PreinstallationEnvironment (WinPE), the Tivoli Storage Manager client restores ASR data bydefault.a. Mount the system drive with the system MOUNTVOL comm<strong>and</strong>. Forexample, if C:\ is a mount point <strong>and</strong> the globally unique identifier (GUID)of the system drive is \\?\Volume{8d587604-54e6-11df-803c-0014a4db5a82}\, enter a comm<strong>and</strong> like the following one:MOUNTVOL C:\ \\?\Volume{8d587604-54e6-11df-803c-0014a4db5a82}\b. Restore the files on the system drive. For example, if the system drive isC:\, issue a comm<strong>and</strong> like the following one:dsmc restore \\computer_name\c$\* c:\ -su=yes -repl=yes5. Copy C:\Windows\BOOT\PCAT\bootmgr file to a hidden partition. Specify thedestination with the GUID of the hidden partition. For example, if the GUID ofthe hidden partition is \\?\Volume{8d587603-54e6-11df-803c-0014a4db5a82}\,issue this comm<strong>and</strong>:copy C:\Windows\BOOT\PCAT\bootmgr \\?\Volume{8d587603-54e6-11df-803c-0014a4db5a82}\In Windows Vista, <strong>and</strong> in subsequent releases of Microsoft Windows, theoperating system installation creates a hidden bootable partition to store bootdata. The hidden partition is different from the partition for the system drive.The hidden partition is restored when ASR data is restored during the systemstate restore. Copy the bootmgr file to the hidden partition. The hidden partitiondoes not have a drive letter mapping, so you must use GUID format for thedestination drive in the copy comm<strong>and</strong>. You can distinguish the hiddenpartition from other partitions because it has a size of 100 MB.6. Restore the boot drive <strong>and</strong> system drive with the Tivoli Storage Manager client.7.
