Deleting file spacesWhen you use the Windows client to recover files with long names to an NTFSdisk, the long names are preserved, even if you are recovering the file to adifferent type of drive than the source drive.Related tasks“Authorizing another user to restore or retrieve your files” on page 199“Restoring or retrieving files from another client node” on page 200If your Tivoli Storage Manager administrator grants you authority, you can deleteentire file spaces from the server. You cannot delete individual backup copies that are kept on the server. You can also perform a point-in-time restore of image backups.Perform incremental backups to support a point-in-time restore. During anincremental backup, the client notifies the server when files are deleted from aclient file space or directory. Selective and incremental-by-date backups do notnotify the server about deleted files. Run incremental backups at a frequencyconsistent with possible restore requirements.202 IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Windows Backup-Archive Clients: Installation and User's Guide
