newpwSpecifies the new password for your workstation.TYPESpecifies if this password is for the workstation or file server. Use TYPE=TSMto specify the Tivoli Storage Manager password for your workstation. UseTYPE=FILER to specify that this password is for snapshot difference operationson a file server. The default is TSM.For TYPE=FILER you must specify the file server name, the user ID, <strong>and</strong> thepassword. For example: dsmc set password -type=filer myfiler fileridfilerpasswd.If you are using the dsmc comm<strong>and</strong> in batch mode, <strong>and</strong> your passwordcontains any special characters (for example, pa$sword), you must enclose thepassword in single quotation marks to avoid truncation (for example, pa).Note: When you specify TYPE=FILER, the password is stored in the TSM.PWDfile or the Windows registry without validating that the password is valid.Passwords that are stored with the TYPE=FILER parameter can be sharedbetween Tivoli Storage Manager nodes. For example, a password stored byNODEA can be used by NODEB. Only one set of credentials is stored per fileserver.You can also use TYPE=VCB to set the password. Here are some examples:dsmc SET PASSWORD -type=VCB VChost VCuserid VCpassword, dsmc SETPASSWORD -type=VCB vchost.us.example.com Administrator secret.Use the Preferences editor to set the vmchost, vmcuser, <strong>and</strong> vmcpw options.You can also use the set password comm<strong>and</strong> to save the vmcuser <strong>and</strong> vmcpwoptions <strong>and</strong> then set the vmchost option, for example: set password -type=VCBvmchost vmcuser vmcpw.When using the set password TYPE=VCB option, make sure that the valuespecified for vmchost is the same as the value that is used on the set passwordcomm<strong>and</strong>. When using TYPE=VCB, the vmcuser <strong>and</strong> vmcpw options are notnecessary, for example:dsmc SET PASSWORD -type=vcb archon.example.com Administrator secretVMCHOST archon.example.comUse the TYPE=FastBack parameter to store the Tivoli Storage Manager FastBackcredentials that are required for mounting <strong>and</strong> dismounting the FastBackvolumes to back up or archive to the Tivoli Storage Manager server.Important: You must define the user credentials that are required to mount<strong>and</strong> unmount FastBack volumes from a repository to the Tivoli StorageManager client before you enter the Tivoli Storage Manager FastBacksubcomm<strong>and</strong>. Use the reposlocation option to define the credentials.Here is a brief description of the various configurations <strong>and</strong> credentials thatyou need:vIf the Tivoli Storage Manager client is installed on the Tivoli StorageManager FastBack DR Hub workstation, the client attempts to connect to alocal repository. You must manually define the Tivoli Storage ManagerFastBack admin user ID <strong>and</strong> the corresponding password using thiscomm<strong>and</strong>:dsmc set password -type=fastback fbserver fbadminuserid fbadminpassIn the previous comm<strong>and</strong>, the fbserver is the short host name of the TivoliStorage Manager FastBack Server workstation.Chapter 13.
