FbbranchvvvvYou must set the subfilebackup option to yes to enable include-exclude adaptivesubfile backup processing. If you do not specify the subfilebackup option or youset the subfilebackup option to no, Tivoli Storage Manager does not performadaptive subfile backup processing. If you set the subfilebackup option to yes and no exclude.subfile statementsexist, Tivoli Storage Manager considers all files for adaptive subfile backupprocessing.Tivoli Storage Manager processes exclude.dir and other include-excludestatements first. Tivoli Storage Manager then considers any exclude.subfilestatements. For example, consider the following include-exclude list:exclude c:\test\*.*exclude.subfile c:\test\file.txtinclude c:\test\file.txtTivoli Storage Manager examines the statements (reading from bottom to top)and determines that the c:\test\file.txt file is a candidate for backup, but isnot a candidate for adaptive subfile backup.Include-exclude adaptive subfile backup processing is valid for backup andrestore processing only. The exclude.subfile option does not affect whether filesare excluded from backup or restore processing, only whether they are excludedfrom adaptive subfile backup processing. As with other include-exclude statements, you can specify exclude.subfilestatements in Unicode using the inclexcl option. The subfilebackup option does not work correctly for migrated files. If you use acombination of subfilebackup and non-subfilebackup for migrated files, your datamight be corrupted on the server.Related reference“Inclexcl” on page 394“Subfilebackup” on page 483Processing NAS file systemsUse the exclude.fs.nas option to exclude file systems from NAS image backupprocessing.Note: The exclude.fs.nas option does not apply to a snapshot differenceincremental backup.A NAS file system specification uses the following conventions:v NAS nodes represent a unique node type. The NAS node name uniquelyidentifies a NAS file server and its data to Tivoli Storage Manager. You canprefix the NAS node name to the file specification to specify the file server towhich the exclude statement applies. If you do not specify a NAS node name, the file system identified applies to all NAS file servers.v Regardless of the client platform, NAS file system specifications use the forwardslash (/) separator, as in this example: /vol/vol0.For example, to exclude /vol/vol1 from backup services on all NAS nodes, specifythe following exclude statement:exclude.fs.nas */vol/vol1Use the fbbranch option with the backup fastback or archive fastback commands.Chapter 12.
