qnSpecifies to perform the installation silently./l*v "c:\log.txt"Specifies verbose logging <strong>and</strong> the name <strong>and</strong> location of the log file.The installation process creates a Tivoli Storage Manager folder in the programsfolder of the Windows Start menu. You can start Tivoli Storage Manager byclicking one of the icons in this folder.You can also install a predefined (custom) dsm.opt file, using the followinginstructions:vvvIf you want to install a predefined dsm.opt file, place a copy of the dsm.opt filein the ...\CONFIG directory located within the install image, for example:tsm_images\TSM_BA_Client\baclient\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\configThe file must be named dsm.opt.The install program copies the predefined dsm.opt file to the ..\BACLIENTdirectory when BOTH of the following conditions are met:– dsm.opt does NOT exist in the ..\BACLIENT directory. The install programdoes not copy over an existing dsm.opt file.– dsm.opt exists in the ..\CONFIG directory of the install image, as describedearlier.Upgrading, modifying, or reinstalling the Tivoli StorageManager Windows clientYou can use the following procedures to upgrade, modify, or reinstall the TivoliStorage Manager Windows client.The reinstall replaces any previous version that is currently in the installationdirectory.However, the reinstall will not replace any files that were not created during theinstall process, such as dsm.opt, dsmerror.log, dsmsched.log, <strong>and</strong> dsmwebcl.log. Inother words, if you have already set up an options file for your client, you do notneed to do this again just because you reinstalled the client. Instead, the newlyreinstalled client uses these existing files.You should stop Tivoli Storage Manager client services before performing theupgrade.If you want to install the client files in a directory other than the one where youpreviously installed them, you should uninstall the previous version beforeinstalling the new version. Follow these steps to uninstall the previous version:1. Open the Windows Start menu <strong>and</strong> click Settings → Control Panel, then chooseAdd/Remove Programs.2. Select the Tivoli Storage Manager client from the list of installed programs.3. Click the Add/Remove button <strong>and</strong> click OK. For components that wereinstalled using Version 4.1 or higher: Click the Next button until you see apanel containing the Modify, Repair, <strong>and</strong> Remove options.4. To remove all components, click Remove <strong>and</strong> then click the Next button.5. To remove individual components, select Modify <strong>and</strong> then click the Nextbutton. The Custom Setup panel displays: Select the component or components youwant to remove <strong>and</strong> select This feature will not be available.6.
