Use a generic bootableWinPE CD to recover all computers of the same operating system <strong>and</strong> architecture.The generic bootable WinPE CD does not contain the Tivoli Storage Manageroptions file (dsm.opt), because the options file is unique for each computer. Youmust provide the Tivoli Storage Manager options file for each computer onseparate media.1. Prepare the minimal operating system.a. On the technician computer, click Start > All Programs , <strong>and</strong> as appropriatefor your operating system, click Windows OPK or Windows AIK.Right-click Deployment Tools Comm<strong>and</strong> Prompt, <strong>and</strong> then click Run asadministrator. By default, all tools are installed at C:\Program Files\kitname\Tools, where kit name is Windows OPK or Windows AIK.b. At the comm<strong>and</strong> prompt, run the Copype.cmd script. The script prepares theminimum operating system. The script requires two arguments: hardwarearchitecture <strong>and</strong> destination location. The hardware architecture value canbe x86, oramd64. The destination value is the path to a local folder. Forexample:For x86 architecture:copype.cmd x86 c:\winpe_x86For x64 architecture:copype.cmd amd64 c:\winpe_x64c. Copy the base image (Winpe.wim) tothe\Winpe_x86\ISO\sources folder <strong>and</strong>rename the file to Boot.wim. For example:For x86 architecture:copy c:\winpe_x86\winpe.wim c:\winpe_x86\ISO\sources\boot.wimFor x64 architecture:copy c:\winpe_x64\winpe.wim c:\winpe_x64\ISO\sources\boot.wim2. Configure the Tivoli Storage Manager client installation package.a. Unpack the Tivoli Storage Manager client installer files into the folder ofyour choice.1) Run the installer executable file.2) Indicate where to save the files. The default directory is c:\tsm_images.3) When prompted to choose the setup language, cancel the wizard. Thefiles are unpacked but the client is not installed.b. In a comm<strong>and</strong> prompt window in the directory where the client installer isunpacked, run the Tivoli Storage Manager preparation script dsmc-pe.cmdor dsmc-pe-x64.cmd. If the bootable WinPE CD is for a 32-bit computer, rundsmc-pe.cmd -set. If the bootable WinPE CD is for a 64-bit computer, rundsmc-pe-x64.cmd -set. The script prepares the Tivoli Storage Manager clientto run in the WinPE environment. For example, open a comm<strong>and</strong> promptwindow <strong>and</strong> run the comm<strong>and</strong> inc:\tsm_images\TSM_BA_Client\.c. Copy Tivoli Storage Manager files to the WinPE location. For example:xcopy c:\tsm_images\TSM_BA_Client\* c:\winpe_x64\iso\ /e /y3. Create the WinPE ISO image. At a comm<strong>and</strong> prompt, enter this comm<strong>and</strong>:oscdimg -n -o -bC:\winpe_x86\etfsboot.comC:\winpe_x86\ISO C:\winpe_x86\winpe_x86.iso4. Burn the ISO image to a CD or DVD.The bootable WinPE CD contains a minimum operating system <strong>and</strong> Tivoli StorageManager client.
