OnWindows XP <strong>and</strong> Windows Server 2003, you must be a member of theAdministrators or Backup Operators group to restore Windows system stateinformation.|||On Windows Vista, Windows 7, <strong>and</strong> Windows Server 2008 clients, restoresystemstate also restores ASR files when running in WinPE (WindowsPreinstallation Environment).To restore Windows system state information using the GUI, follow these steps:1. Click Restore from the GUI main window. The Restore window appears.2. Exp<strong>and</strong> the directory tree by clicking the plus sign +. To display files in afolder, click the folder icon.3. Locate the system state node in the directory tree. You can exp<strong>and</strong> the systemstate node to display the components.4. Click the selection box next to the system state node to restore the entiresystem state. You can restore the startable system state node only as a singleentity because of dependencies among the startable system state components.By default, all components are selected; you can restore individual systemservices components.5. Click Restore. The Task List window displays the restore processing status.On the comm<strong>and</strong> line, use the restore systemstate comm<strong>and</strong> to restore a backup ofsystem state.Considerations:v You can restore system state data to an alternate workstation.v If you are upgrading from a Windows 2000 workstation to a Windows 2003workstation, you cannot restore the Windows 2000 system objects that werebacked up to the server.v If you are upgrading from a Windows XP workstation to a Windows Vistaworkstation, you cannot restore the Windows XP system objects that werebacked up to the server.v Your Windows client must be connected to a Tivoli Storage Manager Version5.2.0 or higher server.v If Active Directory is installed, you must be in Active Directory restore mode.v See related information on performing a Windows XP or system recovery forprocedures on how to perform the following tasks:Chapter 5.
