When the filesthat belong to the System Writer change, an incremental backup is used for thesefiles. Using incremental backup on the System Writer files reduces the amount oftime it takes to back up the system state. A full backup is used for all other systemstate data.During system state backup, a progressive incremental backup is used for theSystem Writer files in the system state. If you want to run a full backup of allsystem state data, you can specify include.systemstate mc_name in the clientoptions file (dsm.opt), where mc_name is the name of the management class withcopy group mode absolute.||On Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 clients, backupsystemstate also backs up ASR data.Note:1.To back up Windows system state, your client must be connected to a TivoliStorage Manager Version 5.2.0 or higher server.2. The system and boot files component of system state is backed up only if amember (file) of that component has changed since the last backup. If amember changes, the entire group of files that comprise that component arebacked up.3. The Tivoli Storage Manager Windows client does not allow the backup of anyindividual component.4. Use the include.systemstate option in your client options file (dsm.opt) toassign management classes for backup of system state. The default is to bindthe system state object to the default management class. For example: include.systemstate ALL BASVT2.5. Use the query systemstate command to display information about a backup ofthe system state on the Tivoli Storage Manager server.Chapter 13. Using commands 551
