JBBCONFIGFILE:c:\journalconfig\tsmjbbd1.ini dsmcutil install journal/name:"TSM Journal Service 2" /JBBCONFIGFILE:d:\journalconfig\tsmjbbd2.ini.3. Different backup clients (based on the distinct dsm.opt file used) can nowconnect to the desired journal service by specifying the appropriate JournalPipeoption in the appropriate dsm.opt, which corresponds to the JournalPipejournal service setting mentioned above.Note:1. Each journal service instance is associated to only one Tivoli Storage Managerclient node name. Changing the association requires a restart of the journalservice to recognize the new association.2. The journal database processing has changed and requires resetting existingjournals preserved through the journal daemon PreserveDbOnExit setting.Environments that do not use the PreserveDbOnExit setting are not affected. The journal daemon is reset the first time the upgraded journal daemon isstarted. After the journal reset, the next backup is a full non-journal incrementalbackup. When this backup completes successfully, subsequent backups use thejournal. If you are using journal-based backup from a prior installation and haveinstalled Tivoli Storage Manager Version 6.1, the first incremental backupresults in a non-journal-based backup even if the PreserveDbOnExit option isused in the tsmjbbd.ini file. The upgrade situations that result in a non-journal-based backup after installingTivoli Storage Manager are:v Upgrade to 5.4v Upgrade from version 5.4.0 to version 5.5.1 or laterv Upgrade from version 5.5.0 to version 5.5.1 or laterWhen you upgrade your system from version 5.5.2 to version 6.1.0, the firstincremental backup results in a journal-based backup.3. You cannot use network and removable file systems.Configuration settings that you apply when the journal service is started and anychanges you make while the journal service is running are applied without havingto restart the service. This also applies to the journal exclude list. However, somesettings for journaled file systems do not take effect until the file system is broughtoffline and then back online.File systems can be taken online (added) or offline (removed) without stoppingand restarting the journal service. You can bring a file system offline by removingit from the list of journaled file systems in the journal configuration filetsmjbbd.ini, or by shutting down the journal service. You can bring a file systemback online by adding it to the list of journaled file systems in the journalconfiguration file tsmjbbd.ini or by starting (restarting) the journal service.Attention: If you take a file system offline without setting the PreserveDbOnExitvalue of 1, the journaled file system journal database is deleted.PreserveDbOnExit=1 specifies that the journaled file system journal database is notdeleted when the journal file system goes offline. The database is also valid whenthe journal file system comes back online. The following is the syntax for stanza and stanza settings:32 IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Windows Backup-Archive Clients: Installation and User's Guide
