1. Ensure that the snapshotroot references a snapshot of the correct volume.Ensure that snapshotroot refers to the root of the snapshot. If these rules arenot followed, unintended results such as files expiring incorrectly can result.2. You cannot use the snapshotroot option in conjunction with the filelist option.3. You cannot use the snapshotroot option with any backup comm<strong>and</strong>, such asbackup image, backup systemobjects, etc.4. You cannot use the snapshotroot option with the snapdiff option.5. If you specify the snapshotroot option in conjunction with the Tivoli StorageManager Open File Support feature provided by the Logical Volume SnapshotAgent (LVSA), the Tivoli Storage Manager Open File Support feature will notbe used for the operation. Use the Tivoli Storage Manager LVSA to provideopen file support instead of using the snapshotroot option in conjunction withanother snapshot provider.Important: Use the snapshotroot option with caution in conjunction with theTivoli Storage Manager journal-based backup feature. Since there is nocoordination between the Tivoli Storage Manager journal <strong>and</strong> thevendor-acquired snapshot provider, unwanted behavior can occur with journalnotifications received after the snapshot occurs. For example, files might not bebacked up, or they might be backed up redundantly to the Tivoli StorageManager server. If you want to use the Tivoli Storage Manager journal-basedbackup feature in conjunction with a snapshot provider, use it in conjunctionwith the Tivoli Storage Manager LVSA which provides full integration with thejournal-based backup feature.6.
