A full incremental backs up all files or directories that are new or have changedsince the last incremental backup. During a full incremental backup, the clientqueries the server or the journal database. Tivoli Storage Manager uses thisinformation to:v Back up new files or directories.v Back up files or directories whose contents have changed.v Mark inactive backup versions on the server for files or directories that aredeleted from the workstation.v Rebind backup versions to management classes if the management classassignments change.Supported ClientsThis comm<strong>and</strong> is valid for all clients.Syntax►►Incrementaloptions►◄▼filespecParametersfilespecSpecifies the path <strong>and</strong> file name that you want to back up. Use wildcards toselect a group of files or all the files in a directory. You can specify as many filespecifications as available resources or other operating system limits permit.Separate file specifications with a space. You can also use the filelist option toprocess a list of files. The Tivoli Storage Manager client opens the file youspecify with this option <strong>and</strong> processes the list of files within according to thespecific comm<strong>and</strong>. If you do not specify a file specification, the default domainor the domain specified as an option is backed up.If you specify a file system, all new <strong>and</strong> changed files are backed up. Inaddition, the last incremental date for the file space is updated on the server. Ifyou specify a file or directory, the last incremental date is not updated. Thismeans the file or directory might be backed up again if a later backup isperformed using the incrbydate option. If you specify a file system, specify thefile system without a trailing slash.Table 75.
