client directory and options file for the specified scheduler service, enter:dsmcutil update scheduler /name:"TSM Central Scheduler Service"/clientdir:c:\tsmptf3\baclient /optfile:c:\tsmptf3\baclient\dsm.opt.Then reissue the net start "TSM Client Scheduler" command.Note:1. If any changes that affect the scheduler service are made to the backup-archiveclient options file, the scheduler service has to be restarted. If you are usingCAD managed scheduling this is not necessary since the scheduler is restartedby the CAD for each backup and the changes are picked up. An example ofthis is the Tivoli Storage Manager server address or the schedule mode. Thiscan be done by issuing the following commands: net stop "TSM ClientScheduler" and then net start "TSM Client Scheduler".2. The dsmsched.log file contains status information for the Tivoli StorageManager scheduler service. In this example, the file is located in this path:c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\baclient\dsmsched.log. You can override thisfile name by specifying the schedlogname option in the options file, dsm.opt.3. Output from scheduled commands is sent to the log file. After scheduled workis performed, check the log to ensure the work completed successfully. When ascheduled command is processed the schedule log might contain the followingentry: Scheduled event eventname completed successfully. This is merely anindication that Tivoli Storage Manager successfully issued the scheduledcommand associated with the eventname. No attempt is made to determine thesuccess or failure of the command. You should assess the success or failure ofthe command by evaluating the return code from the scheduled command inthe schedule log. The schedule log entry for the return code of the command isprefaced with the following text: Finished command. Return code is:.Related tasks“Dsmcutil valid options” on page 258Related reference“Query Schedule” on page 603Examples: Configuring the CAD to manage an existing schedulerserviceThis section provides examples of how to configure the client service configurationutility to use scheduler services. The example below assumes that the scheduler service name is TSM CentralScheduler Service and the CAD service name is TSM Client Acceptor, which arethe default names. You can use the dsmcutil /name option to specify differentnames. To configure the CAD to manage an existing scheduler service:1. Stop the scheduler service and the CAD, as follows: dsmcutil stop /name:"tsmcentral scheduler service" and then dsmcutil stop /name:"tsm clientacceptor".2. Set the managedservices option to schedule in the client options file (dsm.opt).3. Update the scheduler service so that it does not start automatically after areboot: dsmcutil update /name:"tsm central scheduler service"/autostart:no.4. Associate the scheduler service with the CAD: dsmcutil update cad/name:"tsm client acceptor" /cadschedname:"tsm central schedulerservice" /autostart:yes.
