The payback is often greater than 10 to 1 for the lifetime of
the child. Interventions that are possible with children are
not always possible or as effective with adults and these
interventions help the children become more independent
adults who need less care, have more fulfilling lives and
give back more to society as a whole. Why do we spend so
many dollars on the last 5 years of a person's life and so
little on the first 5? Maybe because children can't vote? We
have to vote for them since they aren't legally considered
people until they're 18 and we, as a society, are
responsible for their lack of status.
