5,363. Mary Albanese Santa Rosa, CA Early Intervention and apporpriate services do make a<br />

difference for children <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>are</strong>as of school read<strong>in</strong>ess, self<br />

esteem, and <strong>the</strong> basic right <strong>to</strong> live with dignity<br />

5,364. Nubia Padilla Santa Rosa, CA<br />

5,365. Lisa Sereni Santa Rosa, CA I have been a nurse for <strong>the</strong> CCS program for over 15 years<br />

and have seen <strong>the</strong> wonderful work <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>rapists at <strong>the</strong><br />

MTP <strong>are</strong> able <strong>to</strong> provide <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se children. There <strong>are</strong> very<br />

few pediatric PT's and OT's <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> community that have <strong>the</strong><br />

experience and expertise <strong>to</strong> work with this population and<br />

we need <strong>to</strong> be able <strong>to</strong> provide <strong>the</strong>se children <strong>the</strong> c<strong>are</strong> <strong>the</strong>y<br />

need.<br />

5,366. DANIEL ARTHER Palmdale, CA<br />

5,367. Jessica Berman Santa Rosa, CA I work with babies and <strong>to</strong>ddlers who <strong>are</strong> deaf or hard of<br />

hear<strong>in</strong>g.. Many receive critical services through CCS that<br />

have helped <strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> be able <strong>to</strong> be successful <strong>in</strong> regular<br />

school programs with less support as older children. Many<br />

of <strong>the</strong>se families have no o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong>surance or way <strong>to</strong> get <strong>the</strong><br />

help that is cost-effective for <strong>California</strong>'s public schools.<br />

Early Intervention works. And for older children, I believe it<br />

is still our duty <strong>to</strong> help children with disabilities <strong>to</strong> fulfill <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

full potential by provid<strong>in</strong>g support <strong>to</strong> those <strong>in</strong> need.<br />

5,368. nicole davis San Pedro, CA<br />

5,369. Morgan Wise Berkeley, CA Budget cuts <strong>to</strong> state medical services for children with<br />

special needs represents a profound ignorance and a<br />

frighten<strong>in</strong>g lapse of morals on <strong>the</strong> part of <strong>California</strong><br />

legisla<strong>to</strong>rs. If our state is expected <strong>to</strong> cont<strong>in</strong>ue <strong>to</strong> be a<br />

beacon of sound public policy, budget cuts for The Medical<br />

Therapy Program must be removed from all current and<br />

future economic proposals.<br />

5,370. IRENE DOYLE CONCORD, CA<br />

5,371. Katr<strong>in</strong>a Moss Rohnert Park, CA My nephew received services through <strong>the</strong> CCS-MTU when<br />

he was younger. He has Muscular Dystrophy and <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>rapy he received helped not only him but his p<strong>are</strong>nts <strong>to</strong><br />

learn what <strong>the</strong>y could do <strong>to</strong> help prevent fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

complications. At that time <strong>the</strong>y would have been over <strong>the</strong><br />

cut-off for f<strong>in</strong>ancial eligility, but <strong>the</strong>y would have had <strong>to</strong><br />

choose between health <strong>in</strong>surance for <strong>the</strong> family or services<br />

just for him. This is a terible place <strong>to</strong> put middle <strong>in</strong>come<br />

families who <strong>are</strong> struggl<strong>in</strong>g f<strong>in</strong>ances. Families <strong>are</strong> currently<br />

be<strong>in</strong>g forced <strong>to</strong> decide between childc<strong>are</strong>, so <strong>the</strong>y can both<br />

work, or health <strong>in</strong>surance. Don't add one more layer <strong>to</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>se families.<br />

5,372. Elsa Knapp Scott Fresno, CA I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist and believe that<br />

children <strong>in</strong> need should have as much <strong>the</strong>reapy and<br />

equipment that is necessary for <strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> live and function<br />

as best that <strong>the</strong>y can.<br />
