and many extra expenses for these students. CCS
provides a much needed service for families who might not
meet the income qualifications but would not be able to
provide their child's needs without this valuable resource.

from CCS. With early intervention and direct services from
highly trained PTs and OTs my students have progressed
toward physical independence that makes them less of a
burden on the social welfare system. Also, it takes the
burden off the school system to provide medical therapy
that is needed for a child to function physically at school.
Income should not be a qualifying factor for CCS services.
Having a physically disabled child can be a financial
burden on families with the cost of therapy being very high.
Without these wonderful medical services, I fear that
families earning above the cut off would not be able to help
their children obtain therapy and therefore they would be
more dependent on their parents and teachers for all of
their self care needs and mobility needs.

with children of ages birth through three, I know many
clients whose children have been served through CCS. If
the eligibility standards are changed, I know many families
who could not afford to pay privately for these necessary
therapies for their children. This would be a tragedy and
have great adverse affect on the quality of their children's
lives. This would create an enormous stress to families of
chidlren with special needs who already contend with so
many additional stressors.
