5,320. Donna <strong>We</strong>lty Anderson, CA I work with children's with disabilities and this program is<br />

very beneficial for <strong>the</strong> children and <strong>the</strong>ir families. With<br />

recession and gas prices <strong>the</strong>re is no way a work<strong>in</strong>g family<br />

can afford <strong>the</strong>rapy services. Without <strong>the</strong>rapy <strong>the</strong> child<br />

would be limited <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir abilities and <strong>the</strong>ir quality of life<br />

would suffer. It would cost <strong>the</strong> state more <strong>to</strong> c<strong>are</strong> for <strong>the</strong>se<br />

children as adults. <strong>We</strong> have <strong>to</strong> support this petition and not<br />

let this go <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> effect.<br />

5,325. K<strong>are</strong>n Shel<strong>to</strong>n Fresno, CA The benefits of services provided through <strong>the</strong> CCS<br />

program, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> MTU services, is essential. This<br />

program is already limited and <strong>the</strong> eligibility extremely<br />

specific. Provid<strong>in</strong>g services <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se children early often<br />

helps <strong>to</strong> resolve many issues early ra<strong>the</strong>r than wait<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

<strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> become more severe and significant, which <strong>the</strong>n<br />

needs <strong>to</strong> be dealt with <strong>in</strong> a more costly way for all. Not<br />

provid<strong>in</strong>g services early often creates situations that <strong>are</strong><br />

f<strong>in</strong>ancially more costly for <strong>the</strong> state with future medical,<br />

educational and social programs. Early support for families<br />

<strong>to</strong> address some of <strong>the</strong>se issues perhaps requires more<br />

fund<strong>in</strong>g upfront, however if your vision is greater that <strong>the</strong><br />

next 1 - 5 years - <strong>the</strong> sav<strong>in</strong>gs is huge <strong>in</strong> dollar amount, and<br />

on <strong>the</strong> emotional, educational and social fronts.<br />

upon residence for qualify<strong>in</strong>g for <strong>the</strong>se important services.<br />
