7,052. Allison Lovell Santa Cruz, CA I work <strong>in</strong> special education now and am pursu<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g c<strong>are</strong>er <strong>in</strong> it as well and feel that <strong>the</strong>se services<br />

<strong>are</strong> so important and beneficial <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se children that it is<br />

absolutely absurd <strong>to</strong> take <strong>the</strong>m away. It makes me sad that<br />

<strong>the</strong> government cont<strong>in</strong>ues <strong>to</strong> take and take and take and <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> long run leaves a lot of people out <strong>the</strong>re flounder<strong>in</strong>g. In<br />

<strong>the</strong> end we all have <strong>to</strong> suffer, but <strong>the</strong>se children need<br />

<strong>the</strong>se services <strong>to</strong> ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> a healthy functional life.<br />

Bellflower, CA <strong>We</strong> have dear friends who have a daughter with Sp<strong>in</strong>a<br />

Bifida. Her p<strong>are</strong>nts cannot afford <strong>to</strong> provide her with <strong>the</strong>se<br />

services (that she needs very much) privately. It is<br />

complete ignorance <strong>to</strong> th<strong>in</strong>k that a family with an annual<br />

<strong>in</strong>come of even $80,000 a year could afford <strong>to</strong> pay for all of<br />

<strong>the</strong> needed <strong>the</strong>rapies AND not accumulate massive debt<br />

that would not be possible <strong>to</strong> repay. The disabled child,<br />

who does not have an <strong>in</strong>come, is <strong>the</strong> one who should be<br />

thought of. Does our government not understand that<br />

tak<strong>in</strong>g away services that will make <strong>the</strong>se children<br />

self-sufficient adults some day is only go<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> cost <strong>the</strong>m<br />

more <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> long run??<br />

Lakewood, CA These children <strong>are</strong> <strong>the</strong> most vulnerable and deserve our<br />

support. <strong>California</strong>'s Politicians need <strong>to</strong>, no must<br />

re-establish it priroities and make medical c<strong>are</strong> and<br />

education for <strong>the</strong>se children <strong>the</strong>ir number #1 priority.<br />

Clearly, <strong>the</strong>re is money spent <strong>in</strong> <strong>are</strong>as that <strong>are</strong> far less<br />

important, but unfortunately <strong>the</strong>re <strong>are</strong> no lobbiest who<br />

advocate <strong>to</strong> do o<strong>the</strong>rwise.<br />

Concord, CA My daughter has CP and has been receiv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>se<br />

services for 10 years. She has made amaz<strong>in</strong>g progress<br />

and would be so far beh<strong>in</strong>d <strong>in</strong> her developmental ability<br />

without <strong>the</strong>se services. Insurance can't even come close <strong>to</strong><br />

replac<strong>in</strong>g what CCS does for her. It would be a huge<br />

disservice <strong>to</strong> special needs families and society if our<br />

children were not allowed <strong>the</strong>se services. They desperatly<br />

need <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

7,062. Marta Senz Pleasant Hill, CA My son has made slow but steady progress <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g<br />

his physical strength and daily liv<strong>in</strong>g skills dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> years<br />

he has had medical <strong>the</strong>rapy. Without it, he would require<br />

<strong>in</strong>creased services at school and probably would require a<br />

higher level of assistance as an adult. I believe <strong>the</strong><br />
