3 children in strong need for CCS therapy program. All 3 of
them got much better only because being able to get help
from the state. Living costs these days are incredibly high
and not all the parents can get private sessions for their
children, med insurance pays only for the small number of
sessions. Young adults who immigrate to USA get so
much money these days that they don't need to work first 3
year. I think they are should be #1 for getting cuts.

997. Isabel Lydon San Francisco, CA My son Thomas has received CCS PT & OT since he was
4 months old. He gets about 1 hour per week of these
much needed services. With this intervention he is now
able to hold on to objects and has the ability to weight bare
on his legs, even take a step or two with assistance. The
CCS team has been invaluable advising on necessary
home equipment and being a liaison to a very difficult to
penetrate medi-cal system. You may not think it is a big
deal for Thomas to weight bare for such a small period of
time, but it is. It is medically necessary for breathing and
digestion to mention a few. Have you tried sitting in a chair
with limited mobility for 14 hours a day? It hurts! Without
CCS we would have depleted much of our resources
pursuing therapies that may or may not have been
appropriate for Thomas. Or we would not be able to
augment the current therapy he gets with our resources as
we do. What is not understood is that for people who have
as serious a need as Thomas, these services are proactive
and preventative. In the long run it saves money and is a
necessary part of the continuum of care disabled children
require as some of our most vulnerable citizens.
