6,207. JUDITH REEDY Redd<strong>in</strong>g, CA I am an Occupational Therapist serv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>se children,<br />

many of whom would be unable <strong>to</strong> receive any <strong>the</strong>rapy<br />

services at all if <strong>the</strong>se budget cuts go through. Without<br />

<strong>the</strong>rapy services, <strong>the</strong>se children would no-doubt require<br />

greater levels of c<strong>are</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> future, which would end up<br />

cost<strong>in</strong>g higher levels of tax dollars. This will not save our<br />

state money <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> long run!!! I would be <strong>in</strong> favor of of a<br />

nom<strong>in</strong>al <strong>in</strong>come-based co-pay for our services, but not of<br />

cutt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>m all <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r based on <strong>in</strong>come. <strong>We</strong> already<br />

have children whose medical equipment coverage is<br />

<strong>in</strong>adequate because <strong>the</strong>ir family's <strong>in</strong>come is over $40,000,<br />

so CCS does not cover <strong>the</strong>ir equipment, and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

<strong>in</strong>surance deductible is so high <strong>the</strong> family cannot afford <strong>to</strong><br />

pay for needed equipment/repairs. This is a big safety<br />

issue for <strong>the</strong>se children! <strong>We</strong> all know that <strong>in</strong>surance<br />

coverage is becom<strong>in</strong>g less affordable for employed<br />

p<strong>are</strong>nts, and <strong>in</strong>surance coverage for <strong>the</strong>rapies and<br />

equipment is gett<strong>in</strong>g worse, not better.<br />

6,209. Kathleen Bravo Ontario, CA I've watched firsthand <strong>the</strong> struggles my son and<br />

daughter-<strong>in</strong>-law have gone through f<strong>in</strong>ancially and<br />

emotional try<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> give <strong>the</strong>ir son every opportunity <strong>to</strong> live a<br />

normal happy little 4 year olds life, and hopefully <strong>the</strong><br />

opportunity <strong>to</strong> walk free of his walker. To be able <strong>to</strong> run,<br />

jump, throw a baseball, kick a soccer ball, just as every<br />

little boy wants <strong>to</strong> do. CCS has played a critical role <strong>in</strong> my<br />

grandson progress, and hopefully with cont<strong>in</strong>ued <strong>the</strong>rapy<br />

he will be able <strong>to</strong> accomplish those goals. Without <strong>the</strong><br />

services he receives from CCS he will suffer setbacks <strong>in</strong><br />

many <strong>are</strong>as. Lets be honest, just for starters, if <strong>the</strong> state<br />

needs <strong>to</strong> cut somewhere how about cutt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> ridiculous<br />

perks a vast number of <strong>in</strong>mates receive, many of <strong>the</strong>m<br />

brought on <strong>the</strong>ir own fate, <strong>the</strong>se children did not.<br />

6,210. Ca<strong>the</strong>r<strong>in</strong>e Luckett San Luis Obispo, CA I am a Speech/Language Pathologist work<strong>in</strong>g with<br />

preschoolers. Many of <strong>the</strong> children I serve <strong>are</strong> CCS clients.<br />

6,212. Benn Camicia San Jose, CA Cutt<strong>in</strong>g child c<strong>are</strong> services will not cure what is ail<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>California</strong>'s budget crisis.<br />

6,213. So young Choi South pasadena, CA My son has cerebral palsy, he needs <strong>the</strong>rapy more than<br />

ever. Please, help us!<br />

6,214. Judy Adams Santa Rosa, CA CCS has had <strong>the</strong> mandate <strong>to</strong> serve <strong>the</strong>se children for over<br />

80 years and <strong>the</strong>re is NO o<strong>the</strong>r agency which serves <strong>the</strong>se<br />

children with medically necessary <strong>the</strong>rapy.<br />
