3,736. Lori Radzikowski Tiburon, CA I am a disabled adult and I cannot get by on the meager
amount that SSI slots me for food and rent which makes
me to "rich" for food stamps yet the SSI money does not
cover the medical bills that MediCal (California's Medicaid)
does not cover. And that is ever increasing. When you are
seriously disabled you need a lot of help and it is a vicious
cycle because of your illness or disability it causes more
illnesses or injuries to occur because of the nature of
whatever your problem is that is the way disabi lilies are so
you need more medical attention for what I call these " side
effect" syndromes or rather illnesses and injuries or
disfigurements, etc, then the medication you take to treat
these things causes other diseases in addition to side
effects both of which have to be dealt with and then most
likely medicated or hospitalized or surgically dealt with. Do
you see the cycle or circular pattern of disability and it's
incredible costs? There is no way that two people making
minimum wage are going to be able to take care of a
disabled child the costs are astronomical and not an
insurance company in the world will touch them, they are a
ticking time bomb to an insurance agent. They desperately
need whatever help anyone can give them even though
these days not everything, at least in California for adults,
is covered.
Please do not put these people in the dark and let their
children suffer .
Because it is the kids who lose out on all this...I know you
know that, you just do not care, well I am here to tell you
that it is important to me that you do care.
