3,735. Amber Fandel Los Angeles, CA<br />

3,736. Lori Radzikowski Tiburon, CA I am a disabled adult and I cannot get by on <strong>the</strong> meager<br />

amount that SSI slots me for food and rent which makes<br />

me <strong>to</strong> "rich" for food stamps yet <strong>the</strong> SSI money does not<br />

cover <strong>the</strong> medical bills that MediCal (<strong>California</strong>'s Medicaid)<br />

does not cover. And that is ever <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g. When you <strong>are</strong><br />

seriously disabled you need a lot of help and it is a vicious<br />

cycle because of your illness or disability it causes more<br />

illnesses or <strong>in</strong>juries <strong>to</strong> occur because of <strong>the</strong> nature of<br />

whatever your problem is that is <strong>the</strong> way disabi lilies <strong>are</strong> so<br />

you need more medical attention for what I call <strong>the</strong>se " side<br />

effect" syndromes or ra<strong>the</strong>r illnesses and <strong>in</strong>juries or<br />

disfigurements, etc, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> medication you take <strong>to</strong> treat<br />

<strong>the</strong>se th<strong>in</strong>gs causes o<strong>the</strong>r diseases <strong>in</strong> addition <strong>to</strong> side<br />

effects both of which have <strong>to</strong> be dealt with and <strong>the</strong>n most<br />

likely medicated or hospitalized or surgically dealt with. Do<br />

you see <strong>the</strong> cycle or circular pattern of disability and it's<br />

<strong>in</strong>credible costs? There is no way that two people mak<strong>in</strong>g<br />

m<strong>in</strong>imum wage <strong>are</strong> go<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> be able <strong>to</strong> take c<strong>are</strong> of a<br />

disabled child <strong>the</strong> costs <strong>are</strong> astronomical and not an<br />

<strong>in</strong>surance company <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world will <strong>to</strong>uch <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>the</strong>y <strong>are</strong> a<br />

tick<strong>in</strong>g time bomb <strong>to</strong> an <strong>in</strong>surance agent. They desperately<br />

need whatever help anyone can give <strong>the</strong>m even though<br />

<strong>the</strong>se days not everyth<strong>in</strong>g, at least <strong>in</strong> <strong>California</strong> for adults,<br />

is covered.<br />

Please do not put <strong>the</strong>se people <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> dark and let <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

children suffer .<br />

Because it is <strong>the</strong> kids who lose out on all this...I know you<br />

know that, you just do not c<strong>are</strong>, well I am here <strong>to</strong> tell you<br />

that it is important <strong>to</strong> me that you do c<strong>are</strong>.<br />

Lori Radzikowski<br />

I hope you see each and every child who is disabled who<br />

you have come across <strong>in</strong> your life <strong>in</strong> your dreams at night.<br />
