3.6 A380: Models
In order to support the definition and the development of simulation models a centralized
entity is in charge of A380 model management.
An AIRBUS Procedure : AP2633 is applied (Integration and Exchange of Simulation Models
The scope of the AP2633 is “Requirements and guidelines to support the development of
simulation models, and environments.
The objective is to optimize the definition of models architecture in order to minimize their
multiplication, to warranty their representativity and optimize their reuse on the different test
means (DTS, A/C-1, SIB, A/C0)
The fundamental principles driving the AP2633 are:
• Each designer will provide simulation model(s) of systems and/or area of its
responsibility throughout the whole A/C life cycle
• The simulation models shall reflect the system architecture (modularity)
• The organization of the models shall be based on the A/C architecture
Different subjects are covered by the AP2633:
• interface of the simulation model to the (simulation) environment & vice versa
• additions to models to allow integration
• methods for exchange of simulation models
• process in terms of model development and integration
4 CONCLUSION :
Initially, AIRCRAFT 0 was a concept resulting of AIRBUS reflection after the development of
the A320 and A340 programs, to improve the efficiency of a new aircraft development
Now, the practical application of A/C 0 concept is in progress on A380 the program.
Regarding the backlog of experience on this kind of integration on the previous programs,
this extended scope of integration has been proven to be the most efficient ways to integrate
systems in an aircraft program.
So, in the early stages of the development phase, more than one year prior to the first flight,
the A/C0 will be in place and thousands of development “flight hours’ will be accumulated
Considering the novelties of A380., AIRBUS A/C 0 renders this new aircraft a maturity that
without such a tool could be achieved very costly with the real aircraft during its initial flight
test period
