The Digital Height Model 25 (DHM25) is a standard grid based on the Swiss National Map 1:25’000 that<br />

gives the altitude value every 25 m. Its accuracy is 1.5 m <strong>in</strong> the Plateau and the Jura, 2 m <strong>in</strong> Tic<strong>in</strong>o and<br />

the Prealps and 3 m <strong>in</strong> the Alps.<br />

It is also used to <strong>der</strong>ive slope and aspect maps.<br />

Scale: 1:200’000<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> geotypes for the Canton of Vaud have been described <strong>in</strong> the Cadanav project. The<br />

classification was made on the basis of the digital soil suitability map of Switzerland.<br />

This data is used here as a criteria to def<strong>in</strong>e the vegetation zone and thereafter the annual growth of<br />

species.<br />

Date: 1997–98 (for the Canton of Vaud)<br />

Scale: 1:25’000<br />

Vector25 is the Swiss landscape model that describes the land <strong>in</strong> terms of <strong>in</strong>dividual objects, networks<br />

and surfaces. The specific road network layer, which is based on the Swiss National Map 1:25’000, is<br />

classified <strong>in</strong> 34 different categories, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the German and French road nomenclature.<br />

10.3.2 Unavailable data<br />

A couple of important data layers for the assessment of energy-wood potentials were not available dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the present study. The follow<strong>in</strong>g comment shortly expla<strong>in</strong>s the reasons of their unavailability and <strong>in</strong>form<br />

on their probable release date.<br />
